Bexar County were lowered by more than $53 million in 2022 as a result of judicial appeals (state district court litigation). The number of settled property tax cases in Bexar County increased from 685 in 2014 to 1,259 in 2022. Between 2014 and 2022, the total value of accounts in litigation settlements increased by 1677% in only 7 years, from $967 million to $16 billion. In 2022, tax assessments were reduced by around $1 billion via court appeals, with $796 billion going toward commercial property, $348 million going toward apartments, and $4 million going toward homes.
