Travis County Appraisal District 2022 Houses Property Tax Protest Summary
2022 saw property tax appeals from the Travis Central Appraisal District (CAD) from owners of $120 billion of the $245 billion in the value of homes. The Travis CAD noticed value led to protests against 49% of the properties. Compared to owners of ordinary houses, owners of more costly homes are more inclined to protest. Protests are much more common among owners of utilities, commercial space, and apartments. Based on valuation, owners of 52% of utilities, 99% of multifamily properties, and 94% of commercial properties appealed. Due to its effectiveness, a sizable percentage of utility, commercial, and multifamily owners continuously file an appeal each year.
Annual property tax savings of around 70 to 80% are obtained by owners who file an appeal. Every year, the appraisal district produces a new figure that, barring your appeal, won't change. You may successfully dispute it on your own; however, each year only few owners will file an appeal. If you are not protesting on your own, let us handle it for you. You never have to pay anything until we lower your property taxes; there are no up-front expenses or fixed fees.
