BexarCAD 2022 Property Tax Protest
Property owners in the
Bexar Appraisal District (CAD) reduced their property taxes by $208 million, which included informal and hearings before the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). The savings from judicial appeals, which added $53 million to savings in 2022, are not included in this.

Every year, property owners who are responsible for around $124 billion of the taxable value protest. By account, however, only 24% of property owners voiced their protests. Owners of large commercial properties file an annual appeal to have their property taxes lowered. Eighty to ninety-three percent of property owners who protest each year are successful.
